The FHA Concussion and Sports Medicine Clinic was created by Dr. Earl and Family Health Associates to provide access to consistent, comprehensive, current concussion management and to help guide return-to-learn and return-to-play decisions for area youth.  Our care is individualized for each patient we see.  We provide physical evaluation, assessment of concussion severity, computerized neuropsychological evaluation, ongoing monitoring and education for athletes, parents, coaches and school staff. We use clinical guidelines to implement the most appropriate treatment for return-to-play and return-to-school.  We ask offer access to a team of regional specialists and therapists who have extensive experience caring for concussed patients.

Over time, the FHA Concussion and Sports Medicine Clinic’s mission has evolved and now includes raising awareness and educating the surrounding communities on concussion prevention and recognition and to be a leader in concussion management in Eastern Oregon and Southeast Washington.

ImPACT and ImPACT Pediatric

Dr. Earl and his staff have worked with local schools to implement an extensive baseline ImPACT testing service.  This allows area athletes and schools access to the most widely used and most scientifically validate computerized concussion management tool available.  Currently, more that 7,400 high schools, 1,000 colleges and universities, 900 clinical centers, 475 Credentialed ImPACT Consultants, 200 professional sports teams, and select military units utilize ImPACT as a tool to better help manage concussions.  Since 2006, ImPACT has been administered over 12 million times.  ImPACT ad ImPACT Pediatrics have become an important part in FHA Concussion Clinic’s management of sports related concussions.

  • ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is a neurocognitive assessment administered online in a controlled environment. ImPACT has two components: baseline testing and post-injury testing which are used in conjunction to determine if a patient can safely return to an activity.
  • ImPACT Pediatric is a brief test designed to provide information on the cognitive functioning of children aged 5 through 11 years 11 months. It is a tool to be utilized along with other tests of balance, oculomotor and vestibular processes.
