Tice BCG Topical Suspension 50 mg/mL (BCG - INTRAVESICAL)

For treating cancer.

Instructions

This medicine is given into the bladder. DO NOT inject this medicine.

Carefully follow the instructions for preparing this medicine before use.

Keep this medicine in the refrigerator.

Discard any unused, mixed medicine after 2 hours in the refrigerator.

Keep the medicine in its original container.

Do not drink any liquids for 4 hours before using this medicine.

Wash your hands before and after using this medicine.

It is best to urinate right before using the medicine.

This medicine usually stays in the bladder for 2 hours and then it is urinated out. Carefully follow the instructions from your doctor.

Throw away the medicine after use. Do not save to use again later.

Be careful to avoid contact with the urine for at least 6 hours after each treatment. To avoid splashing, sit down on the toilet seat to urinate during the 6-hour period after treatment.

After using this medicine, drink fluids as directed by your doctor to help clear the medicine from the body.

After urinating each time during the 6-hour period, pour household bleach (about the same amount of bleach as the amount of urine) into the toilet. Wait 15 minutes before flushing. Wash hands well afterwards.

If you miss a dose, contact your doctor for instructions.

Keep using this medicine for the full number of days that it is prescribed. Do not stop the medicine even if you start to feel better.

Drug interactions can change how medicines work or increase risk for side effects. Tell your health care providers about all medicines taken. Include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal medicines. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist before starting or stopping any medicine.

Tell your doctor if symptoms do not get better or if they get worse.

Keep all appointments for medical exams and tests while on this medicine.

Do not share this medicine with anyone who has not been prescribed this medicine.

Cautions

Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.

Some patients on this medicine have developed severe, life-threatening infections. Please speak with your doctor about the risks and benefits of using this medicine.

Do not use the medication any more than instructed.

Do not breastfeed while on this medicine.

Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant. If you become pregnant, contact your doctor immediately.

Contact your doctor if you notice a change in the amount or darkening of your urine.

Contact your doctor if you develop any signs of a new infection such as fever, cough, sore throat, or chills.

Do not share this medicine with anyone who has not been prescribed this medicine.

Side Effects

Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you notice any of these more serious side effects:

  • lack of energy and tiredness
  • fever or chills
  • signs of kidney damage (such as change in urine color or bubbly urine)
  • pain and swelling in the testicle
  • difficulty or discomfort urinating

A few people may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, skin rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help quickly.
